M.A. in Buddhist Studies & Civilization


The academic program facilitating Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in the Buddhist Studies and Civilization is committed to the study of issues related to Buddhist Civilization, canonical and post-canonical languages and literature of the Buddhist tradition. Therefore, successful completion of the program requires an extensive language and textual study along with courses in Civilization. Areas of concentration within the program include Indian Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, or Inner Asian Buddhism, with the relevant languages like Sanskrit, Pali, Tibetan, and Chinese. The program also covers the domain of development and progress of Buddhism in different parts of the world.

  Duration :

2 year (4 Semesters)

  Minimum Qualification for Admission :

Graduate Degree with minimum 50% for Gen. / OBCs and 40% for SCs/STs is required to be eligible to secure the admission. However, the admissions are based on the merit and top 30 candidates are selected through personal interviews. Reservations in the admission are applicable and fulfilled as per the Governmental policy.

  Total Required Credits :

86 Credits are required from mandatory as well as elective courses.
