                Profile

The Central Computer Centre(CCC) caters to the computational need of the Gautam Buddha University(GBU). CCC manages the extensive academic computing & networking facilities of the Gautam Buddha University, providing the University community with state-of–art computing facilities to cater to their computational needs and access to Internet resources as well as telecommunication needs. The Campus network is carefully planned, keeping options in mind for future expansions. Fibber-optic cabling is used to connect all the major buildings. The campus has also been made Wi-Fi. CCC has strong IT security infrastuture that protects the GBU network from outside hackers. Most of the server are using Open Source plateform.

The Central Computer Centre is planning to cover the entire area, including hostels, sports office, dispensary, and guest houses spread over 511 acres of vast Campus through Fiber and Wi-Fi. CCC is also planning to Make GBU a pioneer institution in the use of open source platform for computing and desktop applications. Besides this, there is a plan to equip the University campus with hi-tech surveillance cameras to keep an eye on each and every activity in its vast campus.

 
Computing Facilities:
 

CCC provides following computing facilities:

1. Internet facility available for 24x7 at 10 Mbps of Internet bandwidth at Academic complex, Hostels, Faculty residences etc

2. Managing GBU Official Web Site (www.gbu.ac.in)

3. Access to the online Journals subscribed by GBU (EBSCO (http://search.ebscohost.com) and Emerald ( www.emeraldinsight.com ), IEEE, ACM.

4. Anti-virus Software through Server, Installed to all workstations in campus connected through the network.

5. Troubleshooting support in resolving network related problem at client side.

6. Audio & video recording of the official events of the university and hosting on the net.

7. Video conferencing with other institutions anywhere in the World.

 
Hardware and Software
 

The CCC looks after the hardware and software maintenance of around 400 systems and in the GBU located at different academic schools & administrative departments of the University. The Central Computer Centre has a collection of several general purpose, statistical and mathematical software. It also provides technical support for databases like EBSCO, EMERALD, PROWESS, Libsys and EIS and e–Journals.

 
Servers and Network
 

All systems are linked by a Giga based Local Area Network. There are several servers(Mail server, Web server,Domain server etc) that function 24 hours of the day in the Centre, providing various services to the University. The entire campus has been provided with state of the art network based on Giga cables. It has been extended on optical fiber backbone to cover each and every corner of the University.
