INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AFFAIRS

Gautam Buddha University, in compliance with the approval of the competent authority, agreed in principle to open admissions to international students. The intake of international students began in the academic session 2012-2013.

The International Cell at Gautam Buddha University offers a warm and cordial welcome to international students wishing to join various programmes of the University for higher studies. To ensure smooth implementation, the University has established a separate entity to oversee all matters related to the admission of international students — including procedures, processes, admissions, and related administration. The International Affairs Office advises students on all matters relating to applications, admissions, fees, accommodation, FRRO documentation (for registration of students with the Ministry of Home Affairs), arrival services, and orientation. It also provides ongoing support and post-arrival guidance.

The University aims to attract international students not only to its Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes but also to M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes. The Cell facilitates the international student community in acquiring information, arranging admissions, and ensuring their welfare.

The University also conducts a variety of research programmes, scholarly events, and outreach activities—often in collaboration with external agencies. Activities include colloquia, conferences, and visiting scholar programmes, among others.

Since its inception, international students enrolled at the University have come from the following countries: Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, Lao PDR, South Korea, Mongolia, Yemen, Afghanistan, China, Cambodia, Nepal, USA, Canada, Suriname, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and Taiwan.

The International Affairs Division serves as the central point of contact for both prospective and enrolled international students, ensuring that their academic experience at Gautam Buddha University is enriching, inclusive, and globally relevant.

Role and Responsibilities

The International Affairs Office at Gautam Buddha University is dedicated to supporting international students throughout their academic journey. The office provides guidance on:

• Choosing suitable courses of study
• Completing the application and admission process
• Understanding course information and academic requirements
• English remedial programmes
• Orientation and arrival services
• Visa formalities and documentation
• Accommodation and hostel arrangements
• Any other issues related to living and studying on campus

TThe staff of the International Affairs Office work with commitment to ensure efficient processing of admissions, timely support services, and a welcoming environment for students from around the world.

Additionally, the office is responsible for designing and implementing the University's Internationalization Policy, fostering Bridge Courses as per students' needs, and ensuring smooth cultural and academic integration.

In essence, the Director of International Affairs serves as a friend, philosopher, and guide for international students—ensuring that they feel supported, valued, and at home during their time at Gautam Buddha University.
